Footscray to enjoy alt-country music

A hotel in Footscray is set to welcome a band playing alternative country tunes this Halloween.

As part of its Halloween festivities, the Hotel Westwood in Footscray will be welcoming Australian alternative country stars Wagons to the stage. Along with printed materials to promote bands playing, hospitality businesses like hotels often rely on professional services to produce their branded Letterheads.

A mainstay of the Melbourne country scene, Wagons were formed back in 1999, when singer-songwriter, radio and television presenter Henry Wagons got together with some of his old school friends from his years at Glen Waverly. Mark "Tuckerbag" Dawson, Steve "Harmony" Hassett, Francis, Richard Blazé and Si "The Philanthropist" joined the multi-talented Wagons to create an alternative country and western sound.

Influences sited by the band include Nick Cave, Scott Walker, Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley’s Vegas-era performances. Wagons are renowned for their dramatic and energetic performances that blend indie, rock and country music, punctuated by banter between the audience and the band’s frontman. Many of Wagons’ live shows feature a cover of the song “Willie Nelson” by the Wayfaring Strangers.

Before forming the group, Henry Wagons performed as Henry Krips in the band Dworzec, playing synthesiser.

Wagons will perform live at the Hotel Westwood, located at 28 Napier Street in Footscray, on Monday, October 31. The show will kick off at 8 pm and end at 11 pm.
