Workshops to focus on steps to success in hospital industry

Existing and future proprietors of hospitality businesses in Essendon, Victoria are set to benefit from workshops aimed at helping them create and run profitable restaurants and cafes.

The specialised events, organised by Moonee Valley City Council, will be conducted by Ken Burgin who is an industry expert.

Mayor Andrea Surace said the workshops will deal with the unique opportunities and issues relating to businesses within the hospitality industry.

She said the programmes are designed to be extremely practical and will discuss issues including economic marketing services and strategies such as flyer printing as well as recruitment, industry trends and site selection.

Workshops, she said, will focus on both those who are planning to start a venture and existing business owners, and will provide information that is targeted and relevant to each situation.

Cr. Cam Nation, who holds the Economic Development portfolio, stressed the importance of small business to the economy of the Moonee Valley community, particularly in view of the many jobs it provides for local people.

He said that Council understands there is a great need for cost-effective, targeted solutions to give small businesses a chance to grow.

Cr Nation said the series of workshops will kick off on May 9 at the Clocktower Centre with a presentation on a ‘6 Step Plan to Create a Winning Café or Restaurant’. The cost will be $45.
