Rowers to race in regatta on Maribyrnong river

Essendon Rowing club will host the annual Henley on the Maribyrnong Regatta in March.

The rowing club has been in existence since 1880 and claims to be the first local sporting club to use the now familiar Essendon black uniform with diagonal red stripe over the left shoulder, which many other sporting bodies have since adopted. The club has been holding the Henley on Maribyrnong Regatta since 1912. It is a popular event on the Rowing Victoria calendar.

Traditionally, the 350m course has created some of the fastest racing in the Australian rowing season. There will be racing throughout the day with 49 classes open for male and female rowers of all ages in single, double, quad and eight sculls, culminating in the mixed coxed eight. There is good viewing of all the racing action for the entire length of the course.

The Regatta follows the nearby Footscray Saltwater Regatta which will be held on the Saturday, offering clubs that are travelling long distances an entire weekend of racing.

Events such as these often need to use printing services to create entry forms, banners and contestant identification.

The 2019 Henley on the Maribyrnong Regatta will be held on Sunday 24th March. For more details contact the Essendon Rowing Club or check out their website.
