Racecourse welcomes 2017 with wealth of events
Flemington Racecourse will be the place to be for locals and residents of neighbouring communities, such as Essendon, to spend New Year’s Day.
There will be a host of activities to amuse the children in the Kids’ Zone, such as games, pony rides, and activities for the artistic and craft minded. The Kids’ Zone can be found at the West of the Public Lawn.
Reserved seating can be found at Saintly Place. This is an indoor facility with clear vision of the Winning Post. It provides convenient access to food and drink vendors.
If a barbecue is more the style preferred, the races can be enjoyed from James Boag’s Premium Lawn Bar on the front lawn. Other dining options include the Terrace Restaurant, or members might prefer the Atrium or the Members’ Old Grandstand.
Popular races will include the Group 3 Standish Handicap (run over the straight for 1200m) and the Listed Bagot Handicap, which is run over 2800m. Booklet printing is likely to be used for racebooks.
Gates will open for all activities at The New Year’s Day Race Day on Sunday January 1st at 11:25 am at the Flemington Racecourse at 448 Epsom Road, Flemington. The first race will be run at 12: 25 pm and the last race at 5:25 pm. All ages are welcome, with children under 16 admitted for free. Dress codes apply.
