The HP Print Excellence Award is the merger of several HP awards. The printer company considers the awards a “great opportunity for local graphic arts operators to showcase their work and compete with peers around the world,” they are particularly encouraging entries from Australasian printers. Printing companies from all over Australia, including Essendon who enter the contest will have the chance to display their work at drupa 2012 in Dusseldorf, Germany next May.
To be eligible, all entries must has been printed on several HP printers; Designjet, Indigo, Inkjet Web Press, and Scitex systems. There are three categories of nominations; Commercial, Labels and Packaging and Wide-format Graphics. Each category has its own entry requirements: in the Commercial category, which includes Direct Mail products, must have been printed on an HP Indigo or Inkjet Web Press; in the Labels and Packaging category, which includes labels and Packaging, must have been printed on a HP Indigo; and in the Wide-format Graphics category, which includes Banners and outside advertising, must have been printed on a HP Scitex, HP Designerjet printer or press.
Entry is free and all entries are due by March 15, 2012. There are three stages of entry. First the company must register online for the contest, must be approved for entry and must send a sample submission to HP. All of the eligible entries will be displayed at drupa 2012.
Awards such as these are a good way for those in the printing industries to understand the capabilities of certain printers by seeing what their peers are doing with them.
