Essendon Tennis Club to host junior development event

The Essendon Tennis Club will be holding a tournament for junior players from beginner to intermediate levels during the school holidays.

The event is sanctioned by Tennis Victoria as a Junior Development Series (JDS) event. These events are conducted throughout Australia to give young players the experience of tournament play. National ranking points are not awarded at JDS events but the tournaments are a great introduction to junior tennis events. The Essendon event is the fourth of six tournaments to be held in 2019.

Each player may enter one singles event and one doubles event. Both entries must be in the same age group. To enable the maximum number of matches to be played, each competition will be in a round robin format.

Events will be for 11 and under (using green balls) 13 and under and 15 and under (using hard balls). Scoring formats will be decided once all entries are in and may vary from group to group to give all players maximum court time.

When organising competitions such as these, clubs often use Stationery printers to produce entry Forms, score sheets and other materials.

The tournament will be held on 8th and 9th July at Essendon Tennis Club, Batman St Aberfeldie. The courts will be open from 8am for practice with matches starting at 9am. Entry should be completed online and the deadline for entries is 1st July.
