Essendon club to celebrate national day

A special event in honour of Australia Day featuring a famous sports star will take place at club in Essendon next year.

The Essendon North Rotary Club has announced it is hosting a breakfast to celebrate Australia Day in the new year. The January 2025 event entitled the “I Love Australia Breakfast” will find the club welcoming Sport Australia Hall of Fame member Steve Moneghetti AM.

Social clubs hosting Australia Day celebrations often reach out to skilled Graphic Design Services to create decorations, signage and promotional material featuring the national flag and other imagery.

A Member of the Order of Australia, Moneghetti is renowned for being one of the nation’s greatest distance runners. At the 1994 Commonwealth Games held in Victoria, Canada, the athlete affectionately known as “Mona” won the gold medal in the marathon. The running track in his hometown Ballarat is titled after him as an honour and runs six kilometres around Lake Wendouree’s perimeter.

The I Love Australia Breakfast will be held at the Hyatt Place Event Centre in Melbourne on Sunday, January 26. Those attending are asked to arrive at 7.45 am.

The dining event will then start at 8 am and run until 9.30 am, and the centre is situated at 1 English Street in Essendon Fields.

The cost of admission, which includes a plated breakfast, is $50 per person.
