Essendon Canoe Club to host taster day

Essendon Canoe Club will be hosting a taster event for people looking to try the sport for the first time next month.

The day will showcase the sport, as it can offer many physical and social benefits. People of all ages can give it a go. The sport promotes peace of mind while exercising in a natural environment. Canoeing also helps develop team building skills such as communication, co-operation and working in unison.

What many people may not be aware of about canoeing is that there are different ways to experience this sport, it is not just rowing and racing down a river. Canoeing includes marathons, polo, flatwater racing and touring. It’s a great way to travel and experience canoeing on different rivers around the country and to participate in competitive events with other canoe clubs.

The Essendon Canoe Club will encourage people to discover the benefits of canoeing for themselves on a Come and Try Day on the Maribyrnong River. A great way for sporting clubs to promote themselves and to get people to come and experience something new is through a flyer printing campaign, with promotional Flyers being distributed in the local community.

There is no cost to participate in the event and booking is not required. It is advised to wear warm clothing.

The Essendon Canoe Club’s Come and Try Day will be held on Sunday 1st March from 10am-12pm at Fairbairn Park in Ascot Vale.
