The Essendon area is drawing some of the world’s most advanced companies, with a global leader of automation and self-service technology within the travel sector soon to make Essendon Fields its new home.
Elenium Automation will soon operate out of Essendon Field’s high-tech precinct, which encompasses 35 hectares and features large allotments ideally suited to host hi-tech light manufacturing and industrial operations that have a big office-based workforce.
An estimated 60 staff will be accommodated in the new Elenium facility, which will include a 1550sqm workshop and 1068sqm office.
Melbourne-based Elenium is quickly gaining a great reputation for coming up with innovative products that are able to make travel more efficient by introducing automation into tasks that were once handled manually such as luggage screening, drop-off and check-in.
The new $5 million facility has been purpose-built by JMA Architects, the same designers that handled the recent refurbishment of Essendon Fields Airport Terminal. Elenium’s new factory has been designed with the environment in mind and, as such, will incorporate about 370 solar panels on the rooftop.
The company’s rapid rise has seen it turn heads with many top performers including Etihad Airways with whom Elenium partnered in March 2019 to become its self-service vendor.
Elenium’s new address should be reflected on its employees Business Cards as soon as June when the new facility is expected to be completed.
