Costa Georgiadis to host Essendon beekeeping conference

The Victorian Beekeeping Clubs will be holding their second conference in June 2019, facilitated by the host of ABC’s Gardening Australia, Costa Georgiadis.

As bees come under increased threat from pesticides, land clearance and farming practices, public awareness of the important role that bees play in pollinating crops is growing. The beekeeping conference aims to bring together as many beekeepers as possible from across the state, from hobbyists to commercial beekeepers.

A line-up of informative and inspiring speakers will share their specialist knowledge and experience. There will be researchers into the evolution of social behaviour of bees, pollination and global change ecology, honey bee health and the medicinal value of honey plus a Bee Biosecurity Officer from Agriculture Victoria.

Stuart Anderson from NSW will speak about the Flow Hive which allows apiarists to harvest honey without the need to open the hive, and Hilary Kearney from California will speak about her beekeeping business. Many of the speakers consider educating the community about bees and beekeeping as an important part of their work.

Organisers of events such as this often use brochure printing services to create handy reference materials for attendees.

The conference will be held on Saturday 25th June at Hyatt Place Melbourne, 1 English St, Essendon and tickets cost $155 per person, which includes lunch, morning and afternoon tea and a show bag.
