Youngsters to learn about sustainability in Dandenong

Young people in the Dandenong area who are interested in the environment can enjoy a free session that imparts information about the problems of plastic waste, and how it can be reduced, reused, recycled and rethought (The Four R's).

The hope is that, when at home, those who attended can then pass on what they learnt to their families, so all can gain from the experience.

Earth Crusaders is responsible for the session. The organisation was started in 2018 by Lauren Colosimo, Gabbie Ciavarella and Belinda Attard. It is a registered Melbourne-based charity with a remit to teach young people about sustainability. Using workshops and games, the idea is that children are more likely to make changes within their families and communities as they grow up with sustainable practices.

Earth Crusaders now numbers seven passionate advocates that run community and education events, such as The Four R's Think Tank, and hands-on workshops such as making DIY toiletries, building a terrarium and making beeswax wraps.

Information sessions often generate useful written material that can be printed and distributed by the use of local printing services.

The Four R's – The Think Tank is taking place on Saturday, 25 July, from 2.30 pm until 3.30 pm, at Dandenong Library. The event is free to attend, but prior registration is required. The event is suitable for those aged seven to 12.
