Dandenong to host running festival

Athletes and casual runners in the Dandenong area will be well-served by the South East Running Festival in April.

The South East Running Festival 2026 is just the second time this event has been held. It is billed as being a meeting of fun, fitness and community spirit as all are welcome to participate and generally soak up the atmosphere.

The races include a 1km Children’s Dash, distances of 5k and 10k and a 21k Half Marathon. Starting at the stadium, the course skirts the Dandenong Creek as far as Tirhatuan Park, then through the Melbourne Water Wetlands and back to the finishing post in the stadium carpark. Most of the course is concrete with some gravel areas and is relatively flat, although is not totally wheelchair accessible.

On the day, there will be music, pop-up stalls serving food and drink, interspersed with activities for all the family and suitable entertainment. All participating will receive a medal on finishing.

Local family events often use brochure printing to advertise widely within the community.

The South East Running Festival is taking place in Dandenong on 19th April. The event starts and finishes at Dandenong Stadium, 270 Stud Road, Dandenong, VIC 3175. The opening ceremony is at 7am with the earliest race at 7.30am. Registration lasts until 12th April and costs from $35.
