The Forever Fest programme has been put together to suit all interests and age groups, and it offers everything from zero-waste culinary classes and clothes swaps to workshops, both online and onsite.
The festival's ambassador is astronaut candidate for the Mars One mission Dianne McGrath, and she will be joined by key speakers, such as ABC's “War on Waste” Executive Producer Jodi Boylan, ClimateForce founder Barney Swan, Sustainability Collective founder Charlotte Connell and Alice Zaslavsky, a popular celebrity chef.
Mayor of Greater Dandenong Angela Long said festival participants will receive easy tips and learn how the local community is able to make a real difference. She stressed the need to take strong action, adding:
"Global efforts to tackle climate change are increasing, but there are many ways we can all make a difference."
Flyer printing campaigns have often been mounted throughout the country to make people more aware about the effects of climate change and how people can help make a difference.
The festival, which is to run from May 22 to 30, will kick off at the Springvale Community hub with a host of free activities to be held from 9am. People are urged to donate pre-loved clothes to a swap market, while there will also be tree planting, classes on waste-free cooking and an on-site smoothie bike.
