A day of fun and fanfare featuring a mobile animal farm, face painting, sausage sizzle and family activities marked the official opening of Doveton’s Autumn Place Community Hub.
According to Gabrielle Williams, the Dandenong MP, the hub is set to help families in the local area to connect and assist young children in their development.
A redeveloped kindergarten for four-year-olds including a courtyard, kitchen, multi-purpose room, two child and maternal health consulting rooms and outdoor play spaces plus a barbecue area, playground and improved outdoor park are all part of the new hub.
Casey Council added $1.67 million to the $3.6 million government contribution to make the project a reality. Amanda Stapleton, Mayor of Casey, described the community hub as a place where residents could socialise, play, learn, meet and connect. The community has been urged to help celebrate the new facilities on offer with Councillor Damien Rosario adding:
“We’re proud of the revitalisation that has occurred in Doveton’s town centre and look forward to celebrating these recent upgrades, which make it a more inviting and well-utilised space.”
Flyer printing has often helped alert residents to upgraded facilities such as the Autumn Place Community Hub.
The government’s Growing Suburbs Fund has been responsible for providing in excess of $25 million to 16 projects throughout the city including the Hub, the Casey cycling precinct and Chalcot Lodge Children’s Centre.
