Homegrown produce and food from two of Victoria’s most productive regions will be on display as part of the 2018 Melbourne Food and Wine Festival celebration.
Murrindindi Shire and the City of Greater Dandenong are set to co-host the much anticipated Regional World’s Longest Lunch in March.
The focus will be the promotion of produce and businesses from both communities, led by the City of Greater Dandenong, Acheron-based cook and artist Marian Rennie, and Taggerty’s Little River Winery.
Banner printing has previously marked the spot where the major culinary event will take place, and this year’s guests will be enjoying the hospitality of the Marian Rennie’s Gallery, which is one Murrindindi Shire’s oldest farming locations.
The event is has the backing of Mayor of Greater Dandenong Youhorn Chea, who believes it to be an ideal opportunity to put a spotlight on the fine food produced in the regions. He said the continuous table will seat in excess of 100 guests who will all enjoy a unique experience in dining.
Chea added:
“Both regions are establishing themselves as thriving food heartlands. This is an event that serious foodies and wine lovers will delight in.”
The culinary feast will include five courses and each diner will receive a host of local goodies contained in a show bag to take home and enjoy at their leisure.
In the lead-up to the event, which takes place on March 16 from midday to 4:00 pm, products will also be showcased by suppliers in Murrindindi and Dandenong.
