Randwick beaches get the thumbs up
Randwick City residents can swim safe in the knowledge that the quality of the local water has been given a great rating in the latest clean beach survey.
The State of the Beaches report, compiled by the New South Wales Government, has given high ratings to each of the beaches around Randwick.
The beaches at Coogee, Maroubra, South Maroubra, Malabar, Little Bay, Frenchmans Bay, Yarra Bay, and Congwong Bay were all rated good, while Clovelly Beach has been rated very good.
Printing services could be used to create signage or posters displaying the beaches’ seal of approval to highlight the area’s achievement.
Randwick Mayor Ted Seng expressed the council’s pride at the awards, saying:
The council has worked with Sydney Water during the past few years to install pollutant traps and stormwater harvesting systems to remove pollution and debris from the water before it reaches the beaches.

"This is fantastic news, and goes to show that the many water treatments, education programs and initiatives we have in place are working. I'd also like to thank our local residents who are keenly aware that stormwater drains go straight to our beaches and I know many residents do their bit to reduce pollution and contaminants from reaching our beautiful waterways.”
