Artists and photographers from around Dandenong are being encouraged to submit ideas for a showing at the new Dandenong Municipal Building and Library.
The building in central Dandenong is due to open in March. It will house council offices, the council chamber, public meeting spaces, and a new library. It will also include an outdoor civic square used for events and as a place for residents to relax, and will offer retail, office and hospitality spaces to let.
On its south wall, the building will have seven light Boxes used to display both two-dimensional and three-dimensional artwork. These will be placed along a new pedestrian route around the building.
The first installations will be included in the city’s Nocturnal winter art event, which takes place in June, and should celebrate nighttime or something associated with the night. Each project will be displayed for a certain period, meaning the public will regularly get to see new artists and work in the light boxes.
Chosen artists will receive a grant of $5,000 towards the cost of producing their work. With the competition for places likely to be intense, artists might like to ask a Print company to help produce their applications to give them an extra professional edge.
The council will also promote the artworks including poster printing, features in council newsletters and on the website.
Local artists have until Monday February 17th to submit a proposal to the council. For full details of submission guidelines and application Forms visit the Greater Dandenong council website.Get a Free Quote for Forms Get a Free Quote for Print Get a Free Quote for Boxes
