Dandenong families will find plenty to do this school holidays with the Greater Dandenong Children’s Festival taking place.
The celebration combines a range of events and activities designed to encourage children to use their imagination and explore creativity.
Art lovers will enjoy the exhibitions of photographs of wild flowers and intricate masks, while budding entertainers can watch masters at work during performances, which include a Cinderella puppet show. As well as watching, youngsters can also join in with workshops including cake decorating, making a veggie garden and Aboriginal art, going on a nature walk, or trying a new sport.
The highlight of the fortnight will be the Little Day Out, held on Sunday, September 28th at Ross Reserve in Noble Park. There will be performances from children’s favourites The Funky Monkeys, as well as African drummers and a show by the Melbourne Ballet. Families can play mini golf or challenge each other to a game of giant chess, while children will enjoy the petting zoo and the mini racing cars.
This event should make for some colourful photographs of the family, which a printing company could use to create large artworks for the home.
