The Printing Industries Craftsman Awards (PICA) for Victoria will be presented on November 4, 2011; the awards presentation dinner will take place at Sofitel Melbourne. Those in the printing industry from all over the state of Victoria, including those in Dandenong, were eligible to send in entries. Companies and individuals who provide printing services were eligible to enter and the outcome of such awards might give the consumer a good idea of which local printing company they will choose to meet their printing needs in the near future.
The PICA Awards have been called the “State’s richest prize for Print excellence.” Entries were accepted from companies or persons in the graphics industry including creators, buyers, producers, reproducers, material suppliers and printing services. Each entrant was allowed to submit two printed samples with each entry; each sample had to have been produced in Victoria between September 2010 and August 2011. 35 categories of entries are eligible to receive awards, including:

• Commercial Posters, Showcards , Card Constructions and Mobiles
• Leaflets
• Postcards and Greeting Cards
• Stationery
• Presentation Folders
• Booklets, Catalogues and Magazines
• Annual Reports
• Packaging
• Impact, Sensory or Direct Mail
• Embellishment
• Self-Promotion
• Innovation
• Screen Printing
There are three medals awarded in each category; gold, silver and bronze. Each winner receives a certificate, their work will be showcased on the PICA Victoria website and they get to use the PICA logo in company advertizing for one year.
