Dandenong is set to kick off this year's Sangam Festival with live performances at key locations around the city.
The festival is being held for the third consecutive year and features a collaboration of emerging and celebrated artists from India, including those who are now living in Melbourne areas, such as the cities of Casey and Greater Dandenong.
To be held at different locations on weekends during February and March, the festival will head to Dandenong first, where performances will take place across multiple sites.
As part of the Sangam 2021 Festival, a walking tour called The Earth Matters will take place in three Dandenong locations for site-specific performances, including the Drum Theatre, Harmony Square and a site at the back of the Walker Street Gallery and Arts Centre. Audiences can join the tour to each location and participate in the unique interactive experience.
Festivals such as this have often been widely advertised via poster printing campaigns within local communities.
Evening activities will feature classical performances, including a rarely seen and exciting combination of dance and music performances from various South Asia areas.
The Dandenong tour, which will take two hours, will begin on February 27 at 6pm. Tickets are limited for those wishing to join the outdoor theatre festival experience, which is suitable for all ages.
