Dandenong Central is set for a massive upgrade intended at improving the area socio-economically, and it will create around 5,000 jobs once completed.
The area is home to around 168,000 people with a growing population, and so an upgrade to infrastructure has been considered essential. The much-anticipated upgrade is set to revitalise the area in an initiative that was first implemented in 2006 by the state government, when it was decided that a long-term project was needed to restore and redevelop the area.
The state government has contributed $290 million towards the restoration of the local economy, while sister projects in the south east will see upgraded train lines cut up to 50 minutes off travel time in and out of the area.
Melbourne Developer Capitol Alliance and Development Victoria have joined forces to undertake the upgrade to Dandenong Central. Capital Alliance’s $600 million investment will create around 2,600 new jobs during construction alone.
The plans include new community spaces, a hotel, educational facilities, retail spaces and an upgrade to the Indian retail and dining precinct on Foster Street. Major redevelopments like this often attract interest from new businesses, which can benefit from distributing well-considered Promotional Products when they open to spread brand awareness.
The local community and government anticipate that the vibrant transformation will breathe new life into the area. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2023.
