Dandenong residents are being invited to join a community walk to celebrate healthy living.
WalkFest is a free event designed to encourage people to start walking and think about taking part in simple recreational activities to improve their health. It is also designed to show how the community can work together and include people with disabilities and of all backgrounds.
There are three routes to choose from depending on fitness and ability. The shortest is a two and a half kilometre stroll through the city, while the longest is a 10km challenge across Dandenong. The third walk follows a course from Noble Park and covers three and a half kilometres.
At each walk there will be a starting point and pick up points, and walkers can register to join at any of the spots.
Printing services will be used to advertise the event and to show walkers the route they need to follow on the day.
Each route ends at Hemmings Park, where there will be free entertainment, food, and activities. The physical activities on offer include wheelchair handball, Zumba, air hockey, and African drumming.
There will be a sausage sizzle and fruit provided, and participants can also purchase hot drinks.
The walk takes place on Friday, October 31st from 9.30am to 2.00pm. To find out more or to register, visit the City of Greater Dandenong Council website.
