The grants programme was open to medium and small businesses across Greater Dandenong, and it was provided to help them remain open throughout lockdown limitations and the COVID-19 pandemic
To obtain the grant, local businesses were required to demonstrate the way in which the funds could assist in keeping them operational. Applications for round two opened on October 19 and continued until all funds had been exhausted.
Chief Executive of Greater Dandenong John Bennie said the challenges of 2020 had been met with enthusiasm by the local business community, and he added:
“In the first round we received applications requesting a wide range of items including support to upgrade business software, training to expand digital presences and furniture and equipment upgrades.”
Grants like this could also be ideal for marketing initiatives involving graphic design to help boost business.
Bennie said that applications in the first round of grants had already received notification of their respective outcomes, while the latest second round are set to be reviewed in the coming weeks, with results expected at the end of November.
