The move is expected to boost the state’s economy by around half a billion dollars and create in excess of 1,500 jobs. Kaufland will invest an initial $459 million into the establishment of new stores in the three Victorian centres, with several more stores also in the planning approval process.
Melbourne’s north will be the site of a huge new 115,000 square metre distribution centre which, when complete, will be the country’s largest.
At the turning of the first sod which marked the beginning of construction, Managing Director of Kaufland Australia Julia Kern was joined by Tim Pallas, Minister for Economic Development, who said:
“This is a huge notch on Victoria’s belt – Kaufland’s investment will boost our economy, create jobs and provide opportunities for local businesses, not to mention open up a whole new world of supermarket shopping for Victorian families.”
He said that securing such a large grocery retailer for Victoria showed a sign of confidence in the state’s economy, its retail trade growth, retail talent and world-class infrastructure.
The Kaufland Logo Design, which was last updated in 2017, joins other global retail giant brands such as Aldi, Costco, MUJI, H&M and Uniqlo to have selected Victoria for their launch into the Australian market scene.Get a Free Quote for Logo Design
