The festival, which has been run by the City of Greater Dandenong for four years, is aimed at uncovering accomplished professionals, emerging artists and community members who excel, are highly talented or have a passion for film.
Mayor Roz Blades was excited about the wealth of talent that the festival has the chance to unearth, adding:
“The City of Greater Dandenong is gaining a strong reputation amongst film makers both as a film location and a place for emerging filmmakers to have their work celebrated. Last year this festival received almost 2,000 entries from across the globe including Nepal, Iran, Romania and Latvia.”
Richard Moore will be curator for the Short Cuts Festival with screenings to take place on October 5, 2019 at the Drum Theatre. Poster printing is often used to promote events and festivals.
This will be followed on October 6 by Shorter Cuts, which will provide an opportunity to view films made by the younger generation of filmmakers.
Offering cash prizes, the categories include Open – for professional film makers; Community/Student – secondary and primary students and people who do not have any professional training in filmmaking; and Emerging – recent or current film graduates with filmmaking experience of less than 5 years. Submissions must be received by July 2.
