Lovers of wine and food from around the world are being invited to taste the many treats available at this year’s Dandenong World Fare.
The event, to be held at Dandenong Market for the ninth consecutive year as part of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, represents a celebration of international street food and the many cultures from which it is inspired.
Traders specialising in street food and tantalising cuisine are expected to number in excess of 50 at the World Fare, with many dishing up a host of popular hawker-style foods together with unique dishes from around the world and some created just for the festival.
The event is expected to attract more than 40,000 people to help celebrate and taste the international flavours of traditional and authentic cuisines, exquisite wines, and an extensive cultural entertainment programme.
The festival will feature a host of entertainment highlights such as Chinese lion dancing, African drumming and dance, Bollywood dancers, Tumbarumba, traditional haka and a Brazilian Carnivale.
Free activities, often listed on flyer printing promoting the event, will include henna and Ta Moko (Maori style) face painting.
The Dandenong World Fare will be held this Sunday, March 22, running from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, at the Dandenong Market located on the corner of Cleeland and Clow Streets. Organisers are advising everyone to arrive hungry so they can make the most of the culinary fare on offer.
