The popular event is put on to coincide with the 2019 September/October school holidays. Children of all ages will be able to take part in a series of low cost and free events to be held at participating venues across Greater Dandenong. Poster printing is often conducted for such events to alert people to the activities available.
This year’s theme is ‘Space Adventure’ and the festival will feature activities such as the deckchair movies, which are to be screened in Harmony Square each weekday at midday throughout the holidays, with the exception of the public holiday for Grand Final Day.
Mayor of Greater Dandenong Roz Blades stated that in excess of 20,000 people attend the major local festival each year, adding:
“This is a festival filled with fun and adventure. Strap yourself in and prepare for blast off. This year’s festival promises something for everyone.”
She said the headliner will be the ‘Little Day Out’ on October 6 at the Ross Reserve, which will also include the Shorter Cuts Film Festival, presenting a film collection especially for children. A pop-up planetarium will also take visitors on a journey filled with solar systems, planets and stars.
The Greater Dandenong Children’s Festival is a two week celebration and will run from September 21 to October 6.
