Family fun on offer at the Dandenong Show

Animals will take centre stage in Dandenong next month, with the annual Dandenong Show taking place.

The agricultural event has been staged in Dandenong since the 1870s and continues to grow each year.

The livestock competitions involve cattle, sheep, rabbits and pigeons, and are among the highlights of the show, but there is plenty more on offer.

Thrill seekers can try the latest fairground rides, while those who prefer a more old-fashioned game can have a go at throwing a gum boot. The Victoria Police Showband will entertain the crowds while a motorbike stunt show and the City of Greater Dandenong fireworks display add even more excitement.

A new event this year will be a truck pull competition, which has been organised by local transport company Membrey's Transport and Crane Hire. Teams of 10 will aim to pull a 12-tonne truck along a 50 metre course to raise awareness and funds for mental health charity Beyond Blue.

With so much going on, the show is bound to present some great photo opportunities. Professional Print companies can help make those photographs into lasting mementos by creating high quality prints to hang on the wall or even a book of photographs from the event.

The show is held at Dandenong Showgrounds on Saturday November 9, with gates open from 9:00am to 9:00pm, and on Sunday November 10 from 9:00am to 5:00pm. For more information or to book tickets, visit the Dandenong Agricultural and Pastoral Society website. Registration for the truck pull closes on Sunday October 20.
