For those living in the Dandenong area, a local school is showcasing a Disney Channel favourite in a theatre.
The Disney Channel movie, High School Musical, came out in 2006. It followed Troy, the captain of the basketball team, and Gabriella, as they tried out for lead roles in their school musical, which causes rifts among groups of students. It won numerous awards at the time, including Soundtrack Album of the Year, Outstanding Choreography and Favourite International Program.
Themes of the musical include friendships, first loves, school challenges and being prepared to step out of one’s comfort zone at what is an impressionable age.
High School Musical at the Drum Theatre is now being brought to life by 70 Killester College attendees, aged 11 to 16, and will feature the popular song We’re All in This Together as a rousing celebratory finale.

Killester College will present Disney’s High School Musical from Thursday, 14 August to Friday, 15 August, from 7 pm until 9.20 pm, and on Saturday, 16 August, from 2 pm until 4.20 pm. The venue is the Drum Theatre, which is on the corner of Lonsdale and Walker Street, Dandenong.
