All ages in the Dandenong area will soon be able to spectate the third annual Tug of War Championship, contested by teams from all over Australia and New Zealand.
The event itself comprises twenty-four Antipodean teams who will go head-to-head in a battle of stamina and strength, cheered on by attendant spectators.
To add to the celebratory festival atmosphere, there will be food trucks serving both Indian street food and fresh, regional dishes. There will also be cultural dance showcases to highlight and celebrate the vibrant and diverse cultures within the community.
To complement, there will also be live music from Thekkan Revolution, an Australian South Indian Fusion group. Traditional Chenda drumming will add to the party feel as well as to the vibrant celebration of community and connectivity. Children attending can take part in a mini tug of war and other child-friendly activities.

The Melbourne Tug of War Championship 2025 is taking place on 1 November, from 10 am until 7 pm. The venue is St John’s Regional College, 11 Caroline Street, Dandenong. It is free to attend the event, which is arranged by the FAAM (Fishing and Adventurous Melbourne) Club and MKB.
