The venue, which officially opened on Saturday, October 3 with a special launch party, is set to bring bands that play original rock and covers to the city.
The bar is the brainchild of Chris Andrews, who told the Springvale Dandenong Leader newspaper that he was hoping to revitalise the city’s live music scene. He said:
“When I was here 30 years ago there were maybe five live music places. Now there is nowhere, except maybe a bit of karaoke on a Friday night. We think it is time to get something exciting back into Dandenong and hopefully draw people back.”
The venue already has its own website and social media presence, and could also use poster printing to advertise upcoming events around the local area.
Events scheduled for October include Led Zeppelin and Def Leppard tribute acts.
While the venture will concentrate on live music from established bands to begin with, Andrews said he also hoped to run workshops or sessions for emerging talent to help build Dandenong's local music scene, and hold other events such as film nights.
The entrance to the bar is from Rockstar Lane off Langhorne Street and the venue will be open from Thursday to Sunday between 8:00 pm and 3:00 am.
