Dandenong council will be relocating to the new multi-million dollar offices in 2014, leaving some of the present Springvale offices vacant. The Springvale Civic Space will continue to feature gardens and the library, with City Hall remaining. Ideas from the local community are encouraged regarding usage of the remainder of the site.
The Springvale Civic Space online feedback form and flyer, courtesy of flyer printing services, is a Dandenong council initiative inviting residents to express their thoughts and ideas for making the area more attractive and user-friendly. Suggestions are welcomed regarding services and facilities to be planned for future generations.
The opportunity for input for the Civic Space is the next step of the ‘Revitalising Central Dandenong’ (RCD) master plan, overseen by Places Victoria. As the new Civic Precinct is created, including Council Chambers, a Library, Civic Square, and retail shops - the older area is in danger of losing appeal. It is hoped that private sector investment in Dandenong will have a flow-on effect for the Springvale Civic Space and beyond.
The total cost of the RCD project is expected to be between $50 - 100m, and is a significant investment by Places Victoria towards establishing Dandenong as a city of the future. It is good to know that residents will have a say on the shape of things to come, with Dandenong council inviting suggestions and feedback throughout December.
