Dandenong gears up for frosty festival

Winter weather will be guaranteed in Dandenong this weekend, as the Snow Fest comes to town.

The event will transform parts of the suburb into a beautiful winter scene, complete with artificial snow flurrying through the air and real snow on the ground.

A play area will be open to people of all ages who fancy throwing a few snowballs or trying their skills at building a snowman. For those who do not want to get their hands cold there will be a selection of ice sculptures to view.

Roving entertainers will keep the crowds entertained, and children will be able to enjoy a range of family rides. There will be also be something to suit all musical tastes on the main stage throughout the event, with performances from the Code One Police Band and the River Chinese Band. Many of the local restaurants will be open, allowing visitors to celebrate into the night.

The event is bound to create some great photo opportunities for families from Dandenong. Professional printing companies can produce Copies of the best photographs for families to send to relatives or friends. They could even be used as Christmas cards later in the year.

The Snow Fest will be held on Sunday from 1:00-7:00pm. The main events will take place along Buckingham Avenue with snow on the ground between Balmoral Avenue and Windsor Avenue, both of which will both be closed to all traffic during the event. General entry is free; however, entry to the family rides and snow play area will cost $5.
