As part of a dedicated $439 million building blitz by the Victorian Government to build 10 schools across the State, the Endeavour Hills Specialist School will be built much faster than previously planned.
The new school will be located on the former Amalfi Drive site of Endeavour Hills Secondary College which closed in 2012 and is expected to cater for up to 288 students who require additional needs.
Gabrielle Williams, Member for Dandenong, made the announcement recently and said the State Government initiative would also see old buildings repaired and deliver extra classrooms around the state and added:
"When opened, these new schools will provide more than 7000 spaces for Victorian students. Endeavour Hills Specialist School will receive a share of this funding for new schools construction and will open in 2022 and accommodate 288 students."
New projects such as the construction of new schools often helps the economy by boosting demand for local businesses such as printing services.
Ms Williams said an estimated $2.7 billion was being invested in the project as part of the Building Works package which the State Government initiated to help get people back into the workforce. It is anticipated the construction and repair works will create employment for greater than 1600 people.
