The Dandenong Retail Traders Association awards will be given out on November 29 at the Dandenong Club. This annual event will be part of the association’s annual meeting.
The Dandenong Retail Traders Association began in 1997 with the goal of “revitalisation and expansion of strip shopping in Dandenong.” Those businesses nominated have all played their part in that goal. Awards are given out in five categories: Retailer with more than 10 Employees, Retailer with Fewer than 10 Employees, Innovative Retailer, Retailer with Excellent Store Design and Retailer that Represents a Culture. The winners of each category will then be eligible to win the Central Dandenong Retailer of the Year Award.
No doubt, many of the nominees of this award went the extra mile in marketing their stores. The smarter businesses would have arranged for brochure or flyer printing services as part of a direct marketing campaign. People are more likely to pay attention to an advertisement that comes to their homes than one appearing in a newspaper. Also, people are more inclined to visit a store if that brochure or flyer features a discount coupon.
With the world economy in the state it is currently in, any new business a store can get is highly important. Those stores that are given these awards, and especially the Retailer of the Year award, should receive a boost in customers for a while. It will also motivate those stores that were not nominated to make the necessary changes to ensure they are in the running next year.
