The Whitlams is touring nationally, playing with Symphony Orchestras in each city and achieved three full-capacity shows in September 2025, with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, at the Hamer Hall. Interspersed with the dates, Tim Freedman’s Moonlit Deck event is stripped-back and cabaret-style, featuring the frontman of The Whitlams (piano, lead vocals), with Ollie Thorpe on pedal-steel guitar. This is a format that Freedman also refers to as “roots cabaret.”
The duo is performing an intimate show from the Whitlams back catalogue, interspersed with little-known stories about the songs, as well as solo work by Freedman himself. Popular hits such as No Aphrodisiac, Blow Up the Pokies and Thank You (For Loving Me at My Worst) will no doubt feature on the setlist.
