Tribute to popular US singer scheduled for Croydon

A Croydon hotel will be hosting a tribute to a revered US country-style singer in November.

Johnny Cash was a singer-songwriter who rose to fame in the 1950s. His songs were mostly melancholic and involved themes of sorrow, moralistic quandaries and redemption. Known for his calm, bass-baritone voice, he was also frequently referred to as the Man in Black for his sombre attire.

Popular songs of his include I Walk the Line, Ring of Fire and Folsom Prison Blues. One of the best-selling artists of all time, he was inducted into the Gospel Music, Country Music and Rock and Roll Halls of Fame.

In the November event, Bosco Bosanac will take to the stage as his impersonator. Bosanac has been involved in music since the early 1960s, as part of the Australian surf band, The Atlantics. The latest album from the band was Still Making Waves, released on Australia Day in January 2023, 60 years after the release of their first album. He now lives in New South Wales, and as well as performing as the Man in Black, he is also a guitar teacher.
