Local business excellence showcased at awards night

Business excellence in the City of Maroondah, including Croydon, was showcased and celebrated recently during a special awards presentation night at Karralyka.

The Maroondah Business Excellence Awards, which is run by Maroondah City Council, attracted nominations from more than 150 businesses before The Babes Project was named Maroondah Business of the Year.

The organisation, which is a not-for-profit, also took the award for Collaboration and Partnerships, which acknowledges the way in which it works with other community organisations and businesses. The Babes Project focuses on providing support, education plus parenting, antenatal and prenatal information for women dealing with crisis pregnancy.

Maroondah Business Advisory Committee Chair Kylie Spears said the awards were contested by all types and sizes of businesses and provided an opportunity to recognise their commitment, efforts and success, adding:

“Over 150 businesses nominated for the awards, with 32 shortlisted as finalists across five award categories.”

Business award presentation evenings such as this also provide an ideal opportunity for networking and the exchange of Business Cards. Other winners included Hutchinson Legal in the service excellence category, Rodine Australia in the category of construction and trades, and Nifty-Lift for manufacturing and product design.

Councillor Spears said there are more than 9,500 businesses in Maroondah which contribute an estimated $13.9 billion each year to the local economy.
