Good business on the agenda in Maroondah

Business owners from Croydon can update their skills and make some new contacts at the Maroondah Council annual ‘BizWeek’.

The event runs in the first week of September, and will include a series of seminars and workshops as well as two keynote speakers.

The first keynote is Pauline Nguyen, co-owner of the award-winning Red Lantern Vietnamese restaurant and winner of the Telstra Business Award in 2012. Nguyen will speak at a lunch on the first day and will discuss how she uses meditation and mindfulness practices to reduce stress and help focus on business goals.

The other keynote event will be a breakfast on Wednesday September 2 with entrepreneur Brad Smith. Brad founded ‘braaap Motorcycles’ and has won numerous awards including being named ‘Australian Young Entrepreneur of the Year’ twice.

These two events will be good opportunities for networking so participants should think about making an order for business card printing, or even ask brochure printers to create a small leaflet about their company to hand out to potential new contacts.

Another 20 workshops will take place as part of the week, with topics including starting a business, planning to expand or deal with a crisis, marketing and sales, and getting funding.

Bookings for all events are essential and can be made through the council’s website. BizWeek runs from Monday August 31 to Friday September 4.
