Gem Club showcases its skills

Nunawading Gem Club will hold its annual exhibition showing its treasures and crafts to interested visitors.

The gem club is a not-for-profit organisation whose members come together to share their interests, passions and skills. The club will have displays of gemstones, fossils and minerals, plus handcrafted jewellery made by its members. Rough and polished minerals, gemstones, rocks and slabs from all over the world will also be exhibited. All tutors at the club are volunteers, who are happy to share their knowledge.

Members will demonstrate their skills such as gemstone cutting, the art of faceting, jewellery making and silversmithing. They will also be on hand to chat with visitors wishing to learn more about gemstones and lapidary.

Rough and polished gemstones, rocks and minerals, fossils, handcrafted jewellery, tools and equipment will all be on sale at the show.

Organisers to events such as these often use poster printing to alert the local community to the forthcoming event and Banners to help people to locate the venue.

The show will be held at Dorset Primary School on Rescoria Avenue in Croydon on Saturday, October 19 from 9am to 5pm and Sunday, October 20 from 10am to 5pm. Entry is $4, with no charge for children under 12 accompanying an adult. There is disabled access to the venue and there will be refreshments available during the exhibition.
