The 2016 Run Maroondah is fast approaching, and residents keen to take part are being urged to register now.
Maroondah City councillor Liam Fitzgerald said entry was available for both family groups and individuals from throughout the area, including Croydon.
He said the event aimed to get people of all ages to be active and have fun within a supportive community environment and that, although the run is timed, its ultimate goal is to engage physical activity at a speed that is comfortable for individual participants.
The event, which has often been featured on promotional Holiday Cards and Calendars, will this year include a 1.2km children’s race for the first time.
Children will line up for an 8:00 am start, followed by the 10km and 5km races for all ages at 8:30 am and 9:00 am respectively.
All participants that register for Run Maroondah will also be entered into a draw for a chance to win a pair of running shoes, courtesy of sponsors Active Feet in Heathmont and Adidas. All entrants will also receive a discount of $40 on their next pair of shoes purchased from the store.
The Maroondah Runners Club has been holding free training sessions for the event, which have included tips on the best ways to prepare for the day.
Registrations for the event, to take place at HE Parker Reserve on September 25, will close on September 16.
