Post Connection, the idea of the Fresh Theatre for Social Change, came about out of a desire to create something innovative and relatable from the current pandemic circumstances.
The theatre, working with the Maroondah City Council’s Arts in Maroondah, interviewed local residents, students, nurses, mental health practitioners and paramedics to hear how the pandemic had impacted them and what type of experience it had been.
The Fresh Theatre describes the project as such:
“Post Connection tells the story of eight strangers meeting online through Melbourne’s first wave of the COVID19 pandemic. The characters share and grow together in a topsy-turvy series of events.”
Post Connection can be viewed on the Fresh Theatre for Social Change’s YouTube channel, and features eight actors from different backgrounds.
Characters featured include an unemployed retail worker, a finance worker, engineer and a teacher, and the series documents eight people meeting and introducing themselves for the first time over a Zoom meeting.
Theatre groups often use poster printing to advertise upcoming performances and theatre events, which can be placed in high-traffic areas for maximum awareness.
