Croydon businesses urged to raise fund for health organisation

Businesses across Croydon are being asked to support an initiative by the local Rotary Club to help people with kidney problems.

The Rotary Club of Croydon is working with Kidney Health of Australia to raise funds to put another Big Red Kidney Bus into service.

Currently, the health organisation runs one bus, which acts as a holiday venue for people needing dialysis as a result of kidney problems.

The bus spends six weeks at a time at camping grounds at popular spots around Victoria and can be booked by visitors for a break. The vehicle is equipped with equipment to provide dialysis for up to 12 people each week and is staffed by qualified nurses and technicians, meaning patients can enjoy their holiday without worrying about their health.

Croydon Rotary Club is aiming to raise $150,000 to kit out a second donated bus so more people can use its services.

The club is running several fundraising events and this month, local firms are being invited to a presentation to hear Croydon Rotary Club president Richard Gilham talk about the project.

Business owners who think they may be able to assist should make sure they have Business Cards available at the event to pass their details to the club.

The presentation will take place on Wednesday, October 28. Places can be booked by contacting the Chamber of Commerce.
