Box Hill South prepares for workshop on disability
Box Hill South locals are invited to attend Belonging Matters’ upcoming workshop, “Understanding Intellectual Disability”, which is set to take place in November.
Best suited for family members, support workers and those who work alongside those with intellectual disability, this workshop is designed to give participants a deeper insight into the daily experiences and challenges faced by those with intellectual disability, and to equip them with tools to help people with disabilities achieve their full potential.
The workshop will focus on the historical approach to people with intellectual disability and the impact that misunderstanding has had on learning and support. It will also explore the ways in which a person’s ill-informed perspectives may lead them to misunderstand and even mistreat a person with an intellectual disability.
Attendees can expect to come away from the workshop with useful techniques and learning strategies to help their loved one, friend or client succeed and develop their capabilities and capacities in different areas of life.
Workshop organisers planning similar events can use brochure printing or flyer printing to market their event and share important information in eye-catching, digestible ways.
The “Understanding Intellectual Disability” workshop will be held on Tuesday, November 12, from 9:30am to 3:30pm at Box Hill Golf Club, 202 Station St, Box Hill South. Tickets are available for purchase online.
