Southport walkers ready to support important mental health event
The Annual National Walk for Mental Health Gold Coast will take place next month at the Broadwater Parklands.
The walk is organised by the Mental Health Foundation Australia, and seeks to raise awareness of mental health issues. Walkers can choose to participate in the 3km, 5km or 10km course. Banner printing can assist on the day by helping participants find their way around the courses, and volunteers will be on standby to support. Southport walkers can enter as individuals or as teams, and are encouraged to ask their friends and families for donations. Registration is via the sign-up page on the website, and bus and G:Link services will be available to assist participants in accessing the parklands area where the event takes place.
The Mental Health Foundation Australia organisation was established in 1930, making it the oldest non-government mental health organisation in Australia. It aims to promote an improved level of mental health for the community by providing support, education, and research. It has recently adopted a new logo design, which will be on display at the Southport walking event. The logo design represents support, diversity and inclusivity.
The Annual National Walk for Mental Health will take place on Sunday 22nd of October at the Barnacle BBQ area, Broadwater Parklands, Marine Parade, Southport. The event will run from 10:30am until 12:30pm, and tickets cost $20.
