Southport to welcome fuzz metal
An Australian fuzz metal band will soon be playing a single night show in Southport.
Popular Southport gig spot Vinnies Dive Bar is set to extend a warm welcome to fuzz metal maestros The Neptune Power Federation. Local venues known for hosting bands often look to professional print shops to produce promotional materials like posters and flyers.
The Neptune Power Federation combine stoner rock and old school metal with outrageous stage costumes and theatrics to create a sound and performances that are entirely their own. The band members are mostly based in Newcastle and Sydney and have decades of on-stage experience between them, performing in well-known indie bands like Mortal Sin and Daredevil, among others.
On stage, they take on alter egos, with Lauren Friedman becoming Screaming Loz Sutch on vocals and her husband Jason Whalley playing bass as Jaytanic Ritual. Other band members include Dean Bakota on drums and Mike Foxall on guitar and Troy Vod on lead guitar.
Those attending the upcoming concert in Southport will get a chance to hear older tracks from the band along with new material from their new album Le Demon de L’amour, such as “My Precious One” and “We Beasts of the Night”.
The Neptune Power Federation will play Vinnies Dive Bar, located at 44A Nerang Street, in Southport on Saturday, June 19. The band will be on stage from 7.30 pm.
