Southport residents treated to high-flying kite festival
Kites of all shapes and sizes are destined to take to the skies of Southport at the upcoming Gold Coast Kite Festival, and all residents are invited to attend.
Organised by the Indian Community of Gold Coast in association with Multicultural Family Organisation, the festival’s events have been planned to run in celebration of India’s Independence Day.
Celebrated annually across the globe in August, India’s Independence Day commemorates India’s official separation from British rule in 1947. The local Indian community is using the day as an opportunity to not only celebrate its heritage, but to invite and include the whole of the Gold Coast community in a day of fun and family friendly entertainment. Community events such as this can benefit from banner printing to help advertise information to potential attendees in the area.
Supported by Kites Queensland, the day’s events will not only showcase some impressive giant kites, but they will also allow participants to purchase their own kites and join in on the fun. The day will also feature live cultural performances, a DJ, a jumping castle and face painting for the kids.
Scheduled to run on Sunday, August 15th, from 9am to 3pm, the Gold Coast Kite Festival is a free event for all ages. Held at the Broadwater Parklands in Southport, bookings are available online.
