Southport gears up to host Mayors Christmas Carols in the park
Families from all over the Gold Coast are expected to head to Broadwater Parklands in Southport, Queensland, for this year’s Mayor’s Christmas Carols.
A runner up on the hit television show The Voice, Luke Kennedy, will headline this year’s event, which will also feature local artists The Full Stops, Candice Skjonnemand, The Lions Den, and Bob La Castra.
Each year, the festive event draws families from across the city who, armed with mobile seating, blankets, and LED candles, relax and enjoy the music of their favourite Christmas carols. Many take the opportunity to join in the chorus as the singers perform on stage.
Pre-show entertainment will begin at 4.30pm, giving visitors an opportunity to take part in free craft and arts workshops while children get acquainted with Christmas characters who will roam freely through the crowd.
Carols by candlelight at Broadwater Parklands would not be complete with the popular fireworks display, which has always provided a spectacle of colour and wonderment for all ages.
Photographs of previous displays that light up the beautiful Broadwater have often been featured on postcard printing in Southport.
Another attraction that may appeal to the younger members of the audience is a visit from Santa, which is also featured on the program.
The Mayor’s Christmas Carols will be held on December 13th on the Main Stage, Broadwater Parklands, Marine Parade, Southport.
