Scodelario and Depp head to Gold Coast for latest Pirates movie
Residents of Southport, Queensland, will be on the lookout for actors Johnny Depp and Kaya Scodelario when they arrive on the Gold Coast to film the next instalment of Pirates of the Caribbean.
The movie Dead Men Tell No Tales will see Scodelario – who attracted great acclaim for her role in the British drama Skins and the movie Maze Runner – not only be celebrating her latest part in the hit Pirate’s franchise, but also her 23rd birthday, which coincides with her Queensland visit.
Scodelario’s inclusion in the film’s cast was confirmed by producer Jerry Bruckheimer via Twitter. He said he was pleased with the talented young actor’s casting as the lead female in the fifth Pirate’s move.
The Brit will also hit the big screen later in 2015 in the Maze Runner sequel.
Gold Coast fans will also be able to welcome Johnny Depp as he joins Scodelario during the local filming schedule in March. He will once again feature as Jack Sparrow along with Geoffrey Rush, who plays Captain Barbossa.
This represents the franchise’s first teaming of Depp, Rush and Jack Davenport.
Depp has often been featured on world-wide poster printing campaigns advertising the release of the four previous Pirates of the Caribbean movies.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is due to hit cinemas in the US in July 2017.
