Mayor urges residents to support busy programme of events

Visitors and residents of the Gold Coast have been encouraged by Mayor Tom Tate to get out and experience the many events scheduled to take place during the coming months.

The call has also been extended to business operators in key areas such as Southport, Queensland, to join in the fun of major events.

Cr Tate said the Gold Coast was a leading events destination that, in the next few months, would be hosting major festivals and sporting contests, including the Roxy Pro and Quicksilver surfing competitions.

He said with an investment of $3.2 million into supporting festivals and events in 2014-15, it was important that community support was forthcoming and as many people as possible took the opportunity to attend.

Entertainment was another key area of promotion by the mayor, who said the live music industry was fully supported by the City and encouraged families to check out upcoming performances at venues such as the Village Markets, Miami Marketta, the Coolangatta Hotel, Currumbin Soundlounge, the Art Centre Gold Coast, and the many local clubs, cafes, and pubs.

The events calendar for the first two months of 2015 includes the Gatorade Queensland Tri Series Triathlon, the Magic Millions Race Day and Sales, the Roxy Pro and Quicksilver Pro surfing events, and the RACV Ladies Masters golf tournament.

Host venues have enlisted the expertise of brochure printers and flyer printing services to ensure event information is easily accessible.
